Year after year there is almost no snow in Budapest so the “white” Christmas mood of the ancient past begins to fade away. But this changed weather also has its own beauty.
While in previous years usually cold temperature and winds dominated our weather in December, this year we probably have a lot more time outdoors. The Budapest attractions, the Christmas Market and the surrounding excursion sites provide an excellent opportunity to slow down our lifestyle in December and begin to tune in to the holidays. If we believe in the predictions then the temperature will be above the average throughout the month and maybe new warm record can be reached almost every day. On an average 4 or 8 degrees Celsius we will have a great opportunity for sightseeing, country trips, outdoor sports and entertainment. Snowfall will likely be replaced by rain this holiday, so be sure to be prepared. Going home from a party will be also easier thanks to the not so cold weather, so while waiting for a cab the maximum we have to bear will be around 2 degrees Celsius. If you are spending the holidays in the capital expect a busy and full of festive mood feeling in the downtown.
